Ch. Clarkcreeks Who's On First

8/8/97 -- 2/5/05

Costello impressed us with his ability to pass along his wonderful traits to his get. The comments we received from bitch owners were all very similar, "big, healthy, puppies. Wonderful temperaments and personality. Awesome structure and movement, great front assemblies. Very willing to please and will work for you no matter what. SMART! And very athletic and vocal!"

Costello was a once in a lifetime dog. He had the personality of a bitch (he thought things thru and if he didn't want to do it, well good luck convincing him otherwise!) He adored our son Travis and would do this high pitched girlie "announcement bark" whenever Travis came home. If Travis walked to the neighbors house and came back Costello barked. When Travis learned to drive we knew when his car was turning off the highway and onto our side road a quarter mile away because Costello would alert us with his announcement bark.

He was an obsessive/compulsive retriever of tennis balls. He spit the ball out at you while watching tv or sitting on the couch so much so that Travis taught him to balance a tennis ball on his nose and WAIT for the command to "okay, get it." Costello would then flip the ball up and into the air and catch it in one swift move. Quite a handy trick. He could also carry three tennis balls in his mouth at one time. The best evidence we have of his obsessive retrieving nature is this; Travis and a friend were playing baseball with the dogs light-up at night red ball. They hit the ball and it went outside our fenced property and over into the field. Costello, seeing the blinking red ball from the deck, where the boys had trapped him, jumped off the deck, ran THRU the welded wire fencing and retrieved the ball. He didn't make it thru on the first attempt so he backed up and rammed the fence again with his head until he could squeeze thru and retrieve the ball.

We lost Costello to hemangiosarcoma on February 5, 2005. He was ill for 2-3 days prior to diagnosis and he had no symptoms before that time. We would like to express our deepest thanks to Dr Robert Hutchison and the staff at Animal Clinic Northview in Northridgeville, Ohio for their superb care and concern for both Costello and our family during this difficult time.
